The idea behind this mural was to beautify the Oceanside, California public beach area and to make two corrugated metal storage containers disappear into the landscape. The client on this project, Kim Heim of Mainstreet Oceanside said "What I want to see is to not see them." Jon Shepard, of Harbor & Beaches did a phenomenal job blending his newly designed landscaping in with the new mural. Jon was a great visionary artist and student of mine who passed away on May 14, 2008. Jon was a great friend and teacher to many people including myself. The city of Oceanside lost a great son when Jon passed. He was very intelligent and hard-working. He had detailed knowledge of many subjects including politics, religion, art, and world history. I loved talking to him and I miss him alot. Peace in the after Jon...see you soon my bro.
Below are photos of detail sections of the Oceanside mural and Jon Shepard's phenomenal landscape art. He looked at the finished mural and brought in the perfect landscaping materials.
